River Murray forests...
The SA government is calling for landholders within 20km of the Murray to apply for funding to establish long term biodiversity based carbon sequestration projects on private land. Up to two thirds of the costs of establishment can be paid. The government requires carbon rights to be established and the plantings protected for a minimum of 90 years. There is no requirement to allocate any carbon credits or rights to the government, though it may help in getting funding.

Current and planned forestry projects: agro-forestry projects, biodiversity projects, tree fodder projects, environmental projects, exotic (eg pine) projects.
Negotiate the terms you want: keep part of the carbon right in exchange for tree planting or keep all of the carbon right and plant the forest yourself. Sell your carbon credits when you are ready or not at all. Plant out as much or as little of your land as you would like.
