Australian Carbon Traders was established in 2004 to meet the growing demand for emissions trading and management. In mid 2008 it also created a new company, Emissions Management Australia, to provide a unique and complete service for business.
Australian Carbon Traders has particular experience in forest sink projects and has undertaken the accreditation of Landcare CarbonSMART to the GGAS and Greenhouse Friendly schemes. ACT has also designed schemes for the North East and Westernport Greenhouse Alliances, undertaken an assessment of the Commonwealth Games tree planting project and provided advice and consulting to councils and community groups.
ACT can also provide a range of carbon credits through a network of brokers, aggregators and project originators, including investment opportunities, longer term and OTC purchases.
Manager
Ben Keogh has been involved in carbon sequestration projects since 2004. Major projects have included state coordination of the 2006 Commonwealth Games Tree Planting Project to offset the emissions from the games, the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance "Sinking the Balance" project that looked at the sequestration potential of the North Central Region, project direction of Landcare CarbonSMART, consultant to the Westernport Greenhouse Alliance "Bunyip Project" as well as taking part in industry consultations with the Department of Climate Change.
Previous to embarking on carbon sequestration projects, Ben worked in the fields of environmental management, whole farm planning, native forestry and agriculture production. These roles have given Ben a practical understanding of how carbon integrates into a farming system and a detailed and contemporary understanding of the issues presented to all participants by the growing carbon market.
Ben has extensive experience in the design and implementation of carbon sequestration projects and schemes. Ben has also completed advanced training in the use of the NCAS and has developed carbon sequestration estimation methodologies for use within the NSW Greenhouse Reduction scheme and the Greenhouse Friendly scheme.
